About Smko Academy
According to Smko, the establishment of Smko Academy can be traced back to his experience of teaching English to students in China, as well as to Persian and Azeri students in Tehran. Smko taught English to Chinese students for about six years and to Persian and Azeri students both online and in person for several years.
As he states: "This unpleasant feeling prompted me to find a way to benefit Kurds. Since I lived far from Kurdistan and couldn't contribute in person, I set up an Instagram page. This way, if I knew something in English, I could present it to the Kurds in Kurdish and thus benefit Kurdistan from a distance".
This initiative led to the creation of the "English With Smko" Instagram page in 2018, making it the first Instagram page in Kurdistan dedicated to teaching English in Kurdish. The page expanded significantly, especially after featuring Dayka Maryam (Smko's mother) in the videos. With Dayka Maryam's involvement, Smko's page reached a significant milestone, integrating Smko's teachings more closely with Kurdish culture and society, attracting even more followers. As the page's popularity grew and the demand for English lessons increased, Smko decided to leave the Chinese institute where he was employed and decided to start teaching English to Kurdish students in a more academic and comprehensive manner. The first project undertaken by Smko's team (aside from the tutorial videos on Instagram) was the creation of an offline English tutorial package in Kurdish, which has sold thousands of copies to date.
Following the success of this package, Smko resolved to establish an online English-Kurdish academy. This academy Kurdish students from around the world to learn English in Kurdish with Kurdish teachers and classmates. In a short period, the institute has attracted more than 1,000 Kurdish students who attend classes daily.
All teachers at Smko Academy have completed specialized courses in children's education and are experienced educators in both English and children's pedagogy. The teachers at Smko Academy are chosen following a rigorous selection process by the expert recruitment committee. They are skilled, amiable, and dynamic, ensuring that your children enjoy a pleasant and friendly atmosphere in the classroom.
